The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22-23
October 1, 2023
Dear Beloved of Grace Church:
Every October, Grace enters a period of prayer and discernment. Together we dedicate some time to reflect and ponder questions like: Where does God encounter me in daily life? Where do I find the Spirit’s energizing presence? What commitments do I need to release because they no longer nourish my soul? How do my daily actions and decisions align with my values? We call this prayerful discernment process Christian stewardship.
Our theme for this year’s stewardship season is “Renewed by Grace.” We believe, as the poet in Lamentations said, that God’s mercies are new every morning. How can we become more aware and receptive to this fresh, divine grace? And how do we respond to God’s grace and mercy in the nitty gritty decisions that add up to a life? How do we steward our most precious resources: time, talent and treasure?
As you, possibly with your loved ones, prayerfully reflect on these questions, we hope you will join us for some collective reflection. October 6 – 8 is Stewardship Education Weekend at Grace and gracious provisions are being made for you to spend an hour with your fellow Grace members at one of the four times available to ponder these questions with some guidance from our rector. On October 22, we’ll have a forum on “Meaning and Money.” We hope you’ll join us.
On November 5, the Church celebrates All Saints Sunday. Our celebration of All Saints includes the consecration of your offerings to God for the ministries of Grace Church and a fellowship breakfast at 9:15 am.
Enclosed you’ll find your Vestry’s Stewardship Statement, some data about how your fellow pilgrims have chosen to support God’s work at Grace, a description of our ministries, and a 2024 Commitment Card. Please return the Commitment Card, or complete the online form available on our website, on or before November 5, so that together we may “offer unto thee, O Lord, our selves, our souls and bodies to be a reasonable, holy and living sacrifice unto thee,” as we pray in the Rite I Liturgy.
We pray that this Stewardship Season you will be Renewed by Grace.
With joy flowing from the steadfast love of God –
