How do I pray with Lectio Divina?

Don't let these fancy Latin terms keep you from giving Lectio Divina a try. Go through these four steps, and see below for great bible passage suggestions.

Lectio-  "Read"

• Read several times, be attentive to detail
• Note what stands out to you
• Work to understand meaning and background

Meditatio-  "Meditate"

• Think about the reading and connect it to your life
• Imagine being present to hear the passage or witness the story

Contemplatio-  "Contemplate"

• Quiet expression of love between you and God
• Note what God is saying to you through the passage and time of prayer

Oratio- "Pray"

• Dialogue with God in prayer about the passage
• Thank God for the Word and ask God to guide you to deeper understanding
