Bible Study Resources
Curated by our Rector
On this resource page, you’ll find 1) websites 2) recommendations about which Study Bible to purchase 3) a list of Bibles that are approved for public worship in The Episcopal Church and 4) apps for your iPad/iPhone or Android that offer lots of resources.
- Web-based Bible Study Resources (note some of these have apps)
- https://www.biblegateway.com/ – Joslyn+ uses this all the time. You can choose from multiple translations, make them parallel so you can see the different word choice decisions…great resource.
- https://lectionarypage.net/ – Want to see when a Scripture is read in our three-year cycle? Try to “reverse lectionary” features. Want to read ahead for next Sunday or read the scripture for a feast day that Grace isn’t celebrating collectively? This is your resource.
- https://enterthebible.org/ – This is where Joslyn+ pulled the outline of Mark. GREAT resource for background, overview, theological issues, maps, even a timeline.
- Extra: Watch the "Bible Basics" series on Enter the Bible's YouTube channel.

- https://www.biblehub.com/ - You can get to the Greek or Hebrew easily with links to where else that word is used in Scripture. Go to “interlin” after you put in your Scripture (book name, chapter, verse) to see the original language.
- Which Bible Should I Choose?
- Here's an engaging blog post (and podcast episode) called "Which Bible Should I Buy?" by Prof. Mark Throntveit.
- Joslyn+ recommend one of the following Study Bibles:
- The SBL Study Bible (NRSV-UE)
- Oxford Annotated (NRSV)
- Common English Bible with Apocrypha Study Bible (CEB)
- English Standard Version Study Bible (ESV)

You can tap on a word in your Bible to learn more about the original Greek or Hebrew, and then tap again to look up the word in a dictionary.
- Blue Letter Bible (Android | iPhone/iPad) – Dig deep into God’s Word with over 15 available Bibles, text commentaries, Hebrew / Greek lexicon, interlinear, dictionaries, word searches, and more. Personalize your study with highlighting, tagging favorite verses, and parallel Bible views.
